Guests In My Kitchen

Tomato Basil Soup with Oprah

Hello, my lovely friends!

I am currently traveling through Japan with my favorite travel buddy. My world clock tells me its Thursday in Vancouver.  I am working on my computer sitting in a Romance car with my pocket wi-fi providing flawless connectivity.   I am simply in awe of modern technology.  Here is a post I prepared last week when I was home.

“You get in life what you have the courage to ask for.” Oprah Winfrey

With our temperatures being a little cooler than seasonal I was craving this delicious Tomato Basil Soup that my family loves.  Its a recipe I saved on my Pinterest board a while ago,  by Debbie Chapman from onelttleproject.com.  Here is the link: http://onelittleproject.com/tomato-basil-soup.

It is as healthy and wholesome as food can possibly be. (I am finally at that point in my life that food has to deserve its place in my mouth and body. This certainly qualifies.)  If you are a vegetarian feel free to substitute chicken broth with vegetable broth.  And if you are like me and forget to pick up fresh basil or parsley, don’t worry.  A good quality dried Basil such as Litehouse that I purchased from Costco works just as well.

While making this delicious soup, I had Oprah in the kitchen. Oprah? Oprah Winfrey?  Yes, my dears.  Oprah Winfrey.

Over the years, as I have strived to live better and be better, the one person that has inspired me and continues to do so is Oprah Winfrey.  Of course, Oprah needs no introduction, a woman who against all odds, has built and created a life beyond dreams.

What inspires and resonates with me so deeply is her earnest desire for learning and her true passion for teaching. Her own journey solidifies how she lives by all that she preaches.

I truly feel she has single-handedly brought the universal spiritual community together through her Super Soul Sundays program.  Oprah, I am so fortunate to be living my life in the same era as you.  What more can I say?

The very first video I would like to share with my wonderful tribe is her interview with another incredible woman, Michelle Obama.  I watched it and then watched it again with each of my two daughters.  I think every woman should watch and learn from these two inspiring and wholesome women.

There is so much in this interview that resonates with me.  I particularly love Michelle’s thought that we as women can have it all, just not all at once.  As we try to balance our own desires, our family’s needs, and career pressures we should all try and remember this thought. Let’s promise to fully enjoy each stage of life!

I would love to hear your thoughts.
