A classic white blouse, crisp, well tailored, and well fitted is a must have in every woman’s closet. Especially as we mature through life and dressing becomes more about expressing our personal style and comfort than fashion.

I couldn’t have said it better myself and could not agree more. Although Ms. Chanel’s definition of fashion may vary tremendously from mine or yours as we all adopt fashion to make it our signature style.
The point is everyday, no matter what our schedule, is an opportunity to have fun, be creative and express ourselves through how we present ourselves to the world. How we present ourselves to the world is how the world treats us. It’s the law of cause and effect.
For everyday living, I absolutely love the classic white shirt paired with another classic piece such as a pair of beige pants or dark denim. Topped with some timeless accessories it lets the real you shine through.

My white classic blouse, from Banana Republic, is 98% cotton and 2% spandex. Oh, how I love that spandex. Don’t you? And nothing like a pair of Levis jeans that also have a bit of Elastane. Do you remember when we wore jeans without the stretch. I don’t know how.
These beige pants are from Ralph Lauren (one of my favourite designers, for the understated elegance and good quality). I love these pants for their versatility and elegance.
And no classic fall outfit feels complete without a pair of brown leather boots. How I love the warmth and joy these classic boots bring every fall and winter season! This is a staple in my shoes closet. And I absolutely love that worn in and lovingly used look of leather.
My favourite way to add a little colour and texture to the white blouse is with scarves. It’s a great way to feel in tune with the season or the environment.
Another great thing about our wardrobe collection is the precious, little memories associated with many of the pieces. This above scarf was gifted to me, on my birthday, by my older daughter, Supreet. When she first got her driver’s license, she was so excited to shop on her own for me. How precious!!
This turquoise and green silk scarf, I purchased on our beautiful ferry ride from Vancouver to Victoria. I saw it through the gift shop window and knew I had to have it.
Here is my favourite, brown leather, cross body purse to go with any casual dress up. Of course, it’s from Ralph Lauren. In fact, this was purchased by my younger daughter Suneet as a birthday gift. (Aren’t they a true blessing.)
My photographer (who happens to be my multi-faceted husband and best friend) and I have made a promise to spend maximum quality time with each other while enjoying the most beautiful places that surround us. He grabbed his most prized camera, as I dressed to my heart’s desire and we decided to go out for the shoot and have a little fun.
These shoots were done on two absolutely gorgeous days. One in the autumn, with the most flamboyant foliage, and the other in the mild Vancouver winter by the peaceful, Pacific Ocean. This was also one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever witnessed.
The beauty of life is that, as we travel through it, we realize how miraculous it is without complicating it too much. We just need to grasp each moment, have a little fun and enjoy all its beauty. It is truly a bliss and fashion is icing on the cake. Wouldn’t you say?
