Hello!
I’m so honored that Devinder invited me to speak to her audience today! I’ve been running the blog We Are Glamerus for almost a year now where I live, breathe and sleep all things beauty. I particularly love bringing in-depth product reviews to my readers on everything from lipsticks, to mascaras, to blushes, and beyond. I also write about trends, new launches, and my favorite products, so if you fancy that kind of content come over and say hi!
Today I’m bringing you a review on an item that I recently picked up from the drugstore, the Milani Cosmetics Most Loved Matte Eyeshadow Palette, which contains 12 completely matte shadows. I love a good affordable beauty find, and I love Milani’s quality, so when I passed this item in the aisle I knew I had to snatch it up! I believe this came out sometime in 2018.
Let’s dive into the review now, and then I’ll take you through 3 looks that I created with this palette.

SHADES AND SWATCHES
This palette is divided into 3 quads that run top to bottom in rows: Daytime (neutral/brown shades), Anytime (rose/purple shades) & Playtime (warm/orange shades). Of course, you are free to mix and match the shadows any way you want to create a custom look, so don’t feel confined by this set-up. But these color schemes do provide a nice framework for those of us that may want some guidance when doing their makeup. In the swatch photo below, I marked “D” for Daytime, “A” for Anytime, & “P” for Playtime.
HOW I APPLY MY EYESHADOWS
I always lay down an eye primer first before applying powder shadows for application & longevity purposes. My primer of choice is a Pro-Longwear Paint Pot from MAC Cosmetics, but you can use whatever is your go-to. I’m very low-maintenance with brushes and I tend to use the same one for an entire eye look (for example, a big fluffy brush like the MAC 217). If I’m doing any precision work around the lash line, I will use a smaller angled brush like the MAC 266.
MY THOUGHTS ON PACKAGING
I really like the packaging on this product. It doesn’t feel inexpensive to me at all. It’s sleek & compact, and it contains a very nice mirror inside. It’s also very lightweight, so perfect to throw in your bag or travel bag.
Rating: 5/5 stars
MY THOUGHTS ON APPLICATION
If you’re an experienced eyeshadow-wearer, you’ll know that mattes can be very tricky to apply and blend. Personally I’ve used both luxury and drugstore matte shadows that can be sadly choppy and patchy, so you never really know what kind of experience you’re going to get. However, these Milani matte shadows are very impressive. They apply fairly easily, and blend out with little effort. I experienced a little choppiness with some of the Playtime shadows, but nothing too offensive at all.
I will say though that it’s always beneficial to work in small increments with mattes. Use a small amount of product on your brush at a time, and slowly blend out. The effect will be gorgeous!

MY THOUGHTS ON PIGMENTATION
Love the pigmentation and color intensity you get with these shadows. You don’t have to spend a lot of time building these shades up to really see the colors. In this case, I would definitely recommend using a small amount of product on your brush at one time for ultimate control.

MY THOUGHTS ON COLOR RANGE
I think Milani really nailed it with the shades in this palette. They are all unique in their own right, but at the same time very harmonious with each other. To put it simply: this is a neutral-lovers dream. It’s going to give you all those lovely wearable looks that you can wear to work, school or wherever. If you’re looking for bright pops of color, you’ll probably be disappointed with this product. I love how you have neutral, warm & cool colors all in one small compact palette.

MY THOUGHTS ON LONGEVITY
I didn’t notice much fading or creasing at all with any of these shadows throughout the day, which was very impressive. (Remember that I do use an eye primer though. I also don’t have oily eyelids.) For reference, my standard window of wear-time is anywhere between 8 to 11 hours. After that I can’t attest to how well these shadows would last.

MY THOUGHTS ON PRICE
In the U.S., this product retails for $19.99 which is definitely on the higher-end of the price scale for the drugstore. While I’d love for it to be a few dollars cheaper, I can understand why it’s a bit pricier. The overall quality of these shadows is spectacular, plus you’re getting a large mirror in the palette as well. That’s something you don’t see in the drugstore very often.
Rating: 4 / 5 stars
FINAL THOUGHTS
I would definitely recommend this palette if you’re looking for good-quality matte eyeshadows in soft, wearable colors that won’t break the bank (too much).
THE LOOKS
I mixed Fancy Vanilla & My Daily Latte together and applied them all over my eyelid, and up above my crease. I blended Toast of the Town into my crease, and really buffed & blended it out. I also took that same shade and blended it along my lower lash line. Lastly, I applied Chocolate Is Life along both my upper & lower lash lines as a liner and blended it out (on the outer-corner only).
I mixed Come Up Roses & Bust a Mauve together and applied them all over my eyelid, and up above my crease. I blended No Plum Intended into my crease, and really buffed & blended it out. I also took that same shade and blended it along my lower lash line. Lastly, I applied Don’t Raisin Your Voice along my upper lash line as a liner and blended it out.
I mixed You’re a Peach & Catch a Tan together and applied them all over my eyelid, and up above my crease. I blended Hiking in Sedona into my crease, and really buffed & blended it out. I also took that same shade and blended it along my lower lash line. Lastly, I applied Umber the Sun along my upper lash line as a liner and blended it out.
I hope you all enjoyed this review!
