Ten years ago, I would not have touched an animal print with a ten foot pole. Why? Well, I thought they were too loud, bold, unnecessary and just not for me. Looking back I think there was nothing wrong with the prints, the problem was with me. I was not bold, confident, and sure enough of myself. My soft, safe, and sort of blend with the crowd style was my comfort.
Fast forward to now and I love to bring out my animal prints, particularly during the autumn season.
So what has changed, you ask. I have my friend! Having found my true self, I no longer have the need to fit in. Not only that, but I have learned to embrace myself, my light, my confidence and my individuality. (It only took me half a century on this planet but I did it). So that means once in a while if I feel like wearing something edgy and bold so be it.
The amazingly beautiful fall colours in nature are the perfect compliment to the camel browns, beiges, and deep jewel tones often seen in animal prints. Following a few simple guidelines, animal prints can look sophisticated and classy. Here are a few things to always keep in mind:
-Start with something small. A scarf, purse or shoes.
-Make the animal print only one piece of your outfit.
-Let your animal print piece be the statement.-Mix the print with solid colours, mostly neutral and earth tones. My personal favourite colour to go with the animal print is black.-Keep your jewelry to the minimum. Small studs and/or simple bracelets will add a nice subtle touch.-Keep all accessories solid as well. Unless, of course, your accessory is an animal print then keep your outfit more solid.
A few simple rules and a whole lot of fun.
Anytime we step out of our comfort, we open up the possibility to unimaginable opportunities. Lets have some fashion adventures and embrace our wild side.
One of my favourite authors Marianne Williamson says-
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us”.
Lets embrace that light of ours and be bold.
Lets be our real authentic selves.
With Love,
Devinder ❤️
