Gratitude: Let it be your life guide

Gratitude is a word we have all been hearing lately and most of us try to incorporate it into our lives.

To set aside time everyday to either write down or think about the things we are blessed with not only reduces stress and anxiety but brings joy and peace to our being.

Gratitude is one practice that can truly change the way we view our lives. Imagine how many things we would feel blessed for if we never took anything for granted.

If you haven’t already, make this a daily practice. Every day write down something new that you are grateful for. While all of us can think of family and friends we are always grateful for, here is a list to help you get started with things we often overlook:

  • fresh air
  • clean water
  • roof over our heads
  • delicious food
  • good cup of tea/coffee
  • flowers
  • comfortable bed
  • our health
  • our ability to work
  • social media (yes, its a blessing to stay connected especially during these tough times)
  • human brain
  • medical aid available to us

This list can keep going, but you get my point. Having a gratitude list, I have realize, is entry point to living with gratitude. There is a much deeper and more fulfilling way to make gratitude a way of life. We find this way of being when we develop the habit of sitting and listening to our soul.

The soul teaches us to find and own our unique qualities, gifts, talents, experiences, opportunities, and blessings. It encourage us to look back, recognize, appreciate, and be grateful for all that we are, all that we have been able to experience and everything that makes our story unique.

Imagine a big, beautiful glass vase that you carry with you, and like colourful marbles, put into this vase every trait, talent, moment, person, and experience that adds to your life.

When we do this we truly discover our own authentic self and we begin to love, respect, and own our individual story.

This blissful place of being fulfills us in such a way that we never again feel lesser, lack or unworthiness. All the negative emotions such as jealousy, anxiety, fear, and judgment are replaced with compassion, empathy, and love.

We begin to appreciate our true essence and the essence of those around us. Isn’t that what this journey is all about?

Let us listen to our soul and lead with gratitude.

With love,

Devinder, What a great article about gratitude!
In fact gratitude maybe one of the most overlooked tools that we have access to everyday. Cultivating gratitude doesn’t cost any money and it certainly doesn’t take much time but the benefits are enormous.
